Noblesse oblige is a French term (that the English nobility also enjoyed using) that generally means that the nobility have obligations to fulfil and meant acting noble. I think the title of the song is a play on this term and personally I believe this song is all about how whenever we complain about what is negatively impacting us, many people turn around and tell us “at least you aren’t —“ or “well think of the people elsewhere who have it worse off” and that comment can easily become internalised. In order for us to be justified with how unhappy our suffering makes us do we have to have it the worst? Are we obligated to hold our breath, to not breathe? Do we have to die to show that, yes, our suffering really was bad?Of course not. Whatever feelings you have are valid, no matter how “well off” you believe/others believe you are but it’s a pervasive thought that is hard to erase from the back of your head. I’m sure you could do a massive analysis on everything in the music video to both prove and disprove this theory, this is pretty surface level. Really what I absolutely love about PinocchioP’s music is that it’s so creative and sometimes very abstract that loads of theories fit. Whatever you find the most meaningful and interesting can be what the song is about.

This song is freaking amazing. The idea of being victimized by the system but at the same time self victimizing though this terrifying figure that looms over 'the masses'. I think when we say 'the masses' that's what this song really encompasses. Those systems that organize and define our lives and tell us how to live but at the same time punish us for living them. Its this constant circle of growth and self destruction, but being people, wanting things to be simple we want to give up or point the blame at a monster that is a gross exaguration of reality. This really ties in with the last release because while as a generation, as with any generation, we are tired and upset with all the terrible things that have happened due to the systems emplaced by older generations, we are in a constant war with ourselves over wether to give up. Activism is exhausting and the constant exposures to the negativity of the world really put that nihilistic 'we are all the same and always will be' thought into our brains. I really think that last two songs have be a great reflection of the past few years and just how suffocating and exhausting and good and wonderful and terrible its all been.

i have sooooo many interpretations about this song. non-breath oblige is a pun on "noblesse oblige", which is the condition of someone with a high status who needs to adhere to their role and reflect their position in the way they behave. to me it sounds like pinocchio is trying to say we live in a world of "non-breath oblige", where we suffocate our direct feelings in order not to "break character" and even a simple "i love you", or even less, even just letting out your breath, can destroy that cycle of hate, violence, indifference and dullness

Three things about the song that no one noticed:1. "Non-breath oblige" sounds like a french proverb, "Noblesse oblige", which can be translated as "Nobility oblige" and means that a noble has to follow some values and rules to be a noble. But here, the character isn't obligated by "Noblesse", but by "Non-breath": he isn't constrainted at the top of the society, but struggled at the bottom.(I know french, and if take care about it, you listen clearly "Noblesse oblige", it's surprising how it fits perfectly ! But this proverb is very rare, and I don't know how Pinocchiop could know it...)2. The main character is draw as a goat, not really because he follows the flock, but because he is a "scapegoat": everyone abuse of him, such as some other people in the society. This is these people which "can't breath". And by definition, a scapegoat is mistreated for no reason: in fact, he is sensitive, open-minded, smart and, in my opinion, he could live better if only the society allowed it.3. At 1:26 , we see the scapegoat holding his breath, and then we see flashing colors. Indeed, holding his breath a long time makes us see some hallucinations, like this. So, these colors have a sense: the character can't breath, and he is going to hallucinate, and will die soon if nothing help him. It is maybe what happened at 2:45 , when the halluciations intensifies and he close his eye.
